Nene Park Trust hosts a range of events for visitors all year round. This month we are also hosting the first ever Peterborough Sport Relief Mile. Here's what's happening in the park during March.
Every Monday
Walking for Health Walk
Ferry Meadows Country Park
Walking makes you feel good and improves your health and we provide an opportunity to have fun and meet new people. Everybody is welcome on the walks, including people who wouldn't call themselves active, but we are especially keen to meet people who are trying to build up their daily activity levels, people who have or are at risk of experiencing poor health, and people who maybe feel isolated and would like to meet new people.
The walks are led by specially trained walk leaders. Please wear flat shoes or trainers on all walks. Don't worry if you're not used to walking, come and give it a try!
Time: 10:30 - 11:30

Walk in the Woods
Nene Park & Ferry Meadows Country Park
Join Park Rangers Gary Mason and Rachel Storey for a walk through Lynch Wood and Bluebell Wood. Learn something of the history and maintenance of these woods. Unfortunately this route is not suitable for dogs, wheelchairs or pushchairs. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

Peterborough's Sport Relief Mile
Ferry Meadows Country Park
Ferry Meadows in Peterborough is the perfect setting for your Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile. Join hundreds of other people as you complete The Peterborough Ferry Meadows Mile in the heart of Nene Park. It's a great opportunity for everyone to rise to the challenge for Sport Relief whilst having fun and getting fit! Enter the Mile, get sponsored and make a real day of it!
Times: Event opens at 10:30 with the 1, 3 and 6 mile courses all starting at 11am.
Meet at: Coney Meadow, Ferry Meadows Country Park
Cost: Adult (16 and over) £5, Child (under 16) £2, Family Discount (2 adults, 2 children) £12. The entry fee only helps to cover the cost of staging your Mile event - so make sure you get sponsored to raise money and change lives.

We know you love spending time in Ferry Meadows but are you happy with your photos? If not, then join Nene Park Ranger Ashley Wheal for a beginner's course. Bring your camera - whatever type you have.

Walk with a Ranger
Nene Park & Ferry Meadows Country Park
Join Nene Park Ranger Ian Lowe for a walk around Ferry Meadows and the surrounding areas pointing out interesting features along the way and answering any questions you may have. Unfortunately due to the nature of the paths this walk is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

Bird Watching Walk
Ferry Meadows Country Park
Join Nene Park Ranger Ashley Wheal and Conservation Officer Chris Park on a bird watching walk around Ferry Meadows. They will help you identify the regulars and hopefully some newly arrived spring visitors. Bring your binoculars.
