Harmony and Helicopters at the Meadows
20 July 2010
Following the huge success of last years family fun weekend, Nene Park Trust and Heart FM have teamed up again for Picnic in the Meadows at Ferry Meadows Country Park on Saturday 7th August.
This year the Heart FM stage will be hosted by breakfast presenters Kev and Ros who will be introducing two tribute groups of the biggest pop acts of the moment - Take 4 That and Girls R Aloud.
Across the park there will be all the usual activities such as the miniature railway, watersports centre and Hydrosphere together with children's fair rides brought in especially for the event to entertain the entire family.
However, if all of that is still not enough then 2010 also sees the return of Blue Sky Charter Ltd, offering helicopter flights over Ferry Meadows and Nene Park. The flights will last about 6 minutes and cost £35 per person with discounts available for families and groups. There is no need to book a place, just drop in on the day and the staff from Blue Sky Charters will be happy to answer any queries.
James McCulloch, Chief Executive at Nene Park Trust, said "We had such a positive response from the public after our first family fun event with Heart FM last year, that we felt we should turn it into an annual one day event."
"We really hope that current, old, and maybe even some new visitors to the park will come and join us for this event and find out for themselves just how unique the park is - there truly is something for everyone."
The event will be open from 11am until 5pm on Saturday 7 August. Take 4 That will be performing at 1pm and 3pm, and Girls R Aloud at 2pm and 4pm.
Entrance to the event is free although some activities may be charged. Car parking charges apply from 10am until 5pm at Ferry meadows at £3.50 per car per day.
However there are loads of alternative ways of getting to the event by foot, by bike, by bus or on the Nene Valley Railway with regular trains going to and from Peterborough city centre direct to the Ferry Meadows station.
